Peter de Wit (1958) started his career in 1979 with the comic Stampede! in the weekly magazine Eppo. His most well-known creation however is Sigmund, a daily comic strip about a psychiatrist who treats his patients with anything but tender loving care. Sigmund has been published in de Volkskrant since 1994 and over 50 books have been produced by De Harmonie Publishers.
To this day De Wit also co-writes S1ngle, a newspaper comic about three young women in the big city that is published in 15 Dutch newspapers. In 1999 Peter de Wit was awarded the prestigious Stripschapprijs for his entire body of work.
